The Theatre!..thieves and thoccer?;)
Last Wednesday evening, we were unexpectedly invited by a friend to attend the play of "1,000 Cranes" at the Barter Theatre , which is about 30 mins. from us in Abingdon, VA. Well, my friend was having surgery done on her knee on the day of the play, Friday, and she'd already bought these tickets, and actually was asking me to do her the favor of taking her 4 kids, and mine, to see this production. Well, I gladly accepted her invitation, and we had an excellent time! The production was breathtaking, performed by professional actors in the style of Japanese theatre...and the kids were all enthralled throughout the entire play. I was getting all teary-eyed... something about the power of dance, music and a moving theme like this, just pulls on my emotions! We all folded origami whales, and swans in the workshop following, given by the cast of the play. Before and afterwards we also talked a bit about WWII, Hiroshima, Sadako, radiation and its long-term effects, Japan, and necromancy (ancestor worship/consulting the dead - which was a prominant part of the play, being a featured aspect of the culture). For the rest of the day, my kids' friends stayed over and played for a few hours before I returned them to their recovering Mother. It was an awesome day, and truly an unexpected treat...
Last night we rented the Disney movie, "Princess of Thieves", which is supposed to be about Robin Hood's daughter...it was purely fluff, but harmless (oh, except for the kissing scene..."yikes" exclaimed N and T as they covered their eyes) and the kids really liked it, it was full of "adventure", and made for a fun movie night.
Tabitha and Nathan both played a good game of soccer today, w/both of their teams tieing, Taba's 4-4, and Nathan's 1-1. And I'd forgot to mention that last week Tabitha scored 2 points for her team during that game, go girl!;) We're hoping for nicer weather next wknd., it's been cold and dreary/sprinkling these past two...
Church was refreshing, as usual...we're going through Galatians right now.
