Tuesday, a busy day
Yes, Tuesdays are busy for us. After breakfast the kids and I had our Bible-we're studying Genesis, and specifically creation -and math lessons, and then were buzzing around getting ready for their swimming practice. After swimming we all ate out at the Purple Cow for lunch (a wonderful mom & pop's burger joint in town). Then we came home and cleaned up, did some reading and phonics/spelling lessons.
Today was Tabitha's first day of her ballet/jazz class, which she's been so excited about. And at the same time I was taking Tabitha to her dance class, Chris took Nathan to his Cub Scout mtg., which he attends every other week. Then we came home and had venison fajitas for dinner, YUM! During dinner we threw around possible dog names for our soon to be arriving new pup!
Yes, we've decided to finally adopt a puppy. We're getting a solid black german shepherd pup. Right now he's only 4 wks. old. He'll be flown to us from Memphis next month. Here's the breeder we're getting him from, and you can even see pics here of our pup's parents.; http://http://www.blackbearmountain.com/ And appropriately so, we've just started doing a unit study right now on dogs, it's specifically called "Dogs; Fun with Pets, Responsibility, Animal Science", by Amanda Bennett.
As many of you know, we were planning on getting a West Highland terrier pup (they're smaller, don't shed, hypo-allergenic), but Chris abruptly changed his mind/thought better of it after receiving more info. in a letter from the lady over the local westie association, that sounded very ominous to us, with "warnings" of how demanding the westie is of its owners, wanting constant attention, more so than most other breeds, known to be "yappy" as they're very talkative, and not good to have around kids as they can get quite "nippy". "You'd better make sure it's the right dog for you, or you'll regret it...." etc., etc. So! Back to plan B, my favorite anyways, a GSD, which is fine by me and the kids.;-)
Sunday we went to a great book sale, a local bookstore's gone out of business and had all their books marked down to $1! It was pretty picked over by the time we got there, but we still found some treasures, a couple of which had even been on my wish list. Nathan and Taba have been pouring over their new books the past few days. Nathan's gotten quite fluent w/his reading lately, and has been doing alot of silent reading these passed couple of weeks since we've gotten the cable cut off from the tv (that was Chris's idea-we found we were letting it suck up too much of our time-only have cable internet now, which was our original reason for getting cable anyways).
It was cold today, in the 20's all day! Maybe it will snow soon......we're hoping.
